What's a Grain Bag?

The Grain Bag Storage System (GBSS) bag was designed and developed to store dry grain.
Forage bags that look very similar were designed to store forage.

The GBSS bag has an 18 month warranty against material and workmanship. Forage bags have a 24 month warranty when storing forage but NO warranty for storing the heavier dry grain.

The GBSS bag has more Ultra Violet Inhibitor (UVI) than the forage bag. More UVI offers longer protection in the sun.

The GBSS bag is 9.3 mil thick. This is 4% more than a 9 mil bag, 9% more than an 8.5 mil bag and 14% more than a 8 mil bag. The thicker mil adds more sidewall strength that is needed not only for durability but to reduce the “pillowing” effect that comes from the extra weight of dry grain.

Many people think that the value of a grain bag is all about the thickness. That is only one factor. The chemistry and the physical composition are far more important in manufacturing of a premium bag!

The GBSS bag has a unique formula that includes a proprietary resin (plastic) that:

Keeps better shape! Since grain is heavier than forage, its weight and the tendency to flow makes the bags try to “pillow out”. On bags that end up too flat and wide, the roll-up style unloader has a real problem with the sides.
Increased side wall strength provides better protection due to possible erroneous over-stretching.
The higher temperature tolerance of this unique additive allows grain to be bagged at a higher ambient air temperature. This can be even more valuable if the customer is bagging hot grain coming from a grain dryer.

If you plan to use a roll-up style unloader, the GBSS bag is a must! A roll-up style unloader is designed to roll up the bag while unloading. The hydraulic powered roller pulls on the bag like a tow rope while pulling the unloader and tractor backwards. The huge amount of pull on the bag is even more increased when using large horsepower tractors.
